West Horndon Primary School ranges from Reception Year through to Year 6

Important Information for Prospective Parents

We are always delighted to show prospective families around our popular school. However, prospective parents should be aware that we are currently FULL in every class. Unfortunately the school will have to decline any applications for mid year places.

Admissions Policy

There is no guarantee of a place for children living in the priority admission area.

In the event of oversubscription places will be allocated using the following criteria in the order given:

• Looked After Children and previously looked after children (as defined on page 12 of the Primary Education in Essex 2015/2016 booklet);
• children with a sibling attending the school;
• children living in the priority admission area;
• remaining applications.

In the event of oversubscription within any of the above criteria, priority will be determined by straight line distance from home to school, those living closest being given the highest priority.

Exceptional medical circumstances (supported by medical evidence) may override the above (other than Looked After Children and previously looked after children).

Friends of West Horndon Primary School

The Friends of West Horndon Primary School is similar to that of a Parents Teacher Associaction (PTA) but is open to anyone who wanted to support the school rather than parents / teachers.

(Mr O'Grady the Head Teacher at the school is also a committee member along with some other staff and parents)

We have a few events organised with the school and hope to branch out as we get more established so that we can get involved with the local community....more details to follow soon
